Preston sent me a note asking about Philippine Dual Citizenship.
Here is what Preston had to say:
I’m half white and half filipino and would like to move to the philippines with my girlfriend who was born in the philippines to a u.s. marine and filipina woman. What are our options as far as moving their and gaining citizenship. Neither of my parents was a Philippine citizen at the time of my birth.
Hi Preston, thank you for writing with your question.
Unfortunately, you do not have any options at all as far as Philippine Citizenship goes. Because neither of your parents was a Philippine citizen on the day of your birth, you have no right to Philippine Citizenship. The fact that you are half Filipino has no bearing, because neither of your parents were Philippine Citizens at the time you were born.
You can still live here, though, just not as a citizen. Go over to our other site, Your Philippine Visa to learn more about visa options for living here as a non-citizen.
