Chris wrote in today. He was referring back to our article yesterday about Maria.
Here is Chris’ comment/question:
I was born in the USA in 1967 of a filipina Mom and an American father, both are now deceased, my birth Mom still has living filipino relatives in the PI, I went to the Philippine consulate and they too told me I did not qualify for dual citizenship in the Philippines, I have many cousins in the Philippines I am related to by blood, my cousin in Manila told me if I pay 5K pesos I can get dual citizenship as her hubby is very well placed in the Philippine government, he is a bodyguard for a high ranking official. Marias mom is still alive so Maria should be able to acquire dual citizenship, diba?
And, in response, this is what we say to Chris:
Hi Chris – Yep, under the law you don’t qualify. But, if there are other ways… I can’t really comment on that, because when you have to “pay 5k” that isn’t legal.. and I just don’t want to go there. Good luck to you Chris.
Good luck, Chris. I’d recommend that you consider it carefully, though, before being involved in illegal activities.
