One of the reasons that Baket ko (Asawa ko) [my Wife] and I take our annual vacation at this time of year is to enjoy “summertime” in the States while leaving “rainy season” behind. Nature is so very kind to us, allowing us to enjoy warm, sunny days throughout the year. Or so we thought. You must admit, the plan is a good one: following the sun throughout the year, staying warm and dry – mostly warm. Cold weather and I no longer enjoy each other’s company. We merely acknowledge each other’s existence and get on with life avoiding any contact. This year is different. So different that I’m feeling homesick a bit earlier into the vacation. The reason? Rain! There has been a considerable amount of rain here in our Stateside abode since our arrival. Thunderstorms, tornado watches and warnings, sudden downpours, all-day drizzles; you name it, we’ve had it.
