I have been lucky to have traveled to some seriously beautiful places in the Philippines during my time here. I have been to places where only a few other white men have been. I’ve been to places that are considered dangerous, and I’ve been to places that are very remote. To be honest, most of my Philippine travel to date has been on the Island of Mindanao. Perhaps that is part of the reason why people call me “Mindanao Bob.”
So far, I have traveled to nearly every Province in Mindanao. In fact, I have actually visited every single Province on the Island of Mindanao. There are three Provinces that are Administratively under the control of Mindanao which I have yet to visit. Those three are Sulu, Camiguin and Dinagat. I will be visiting each of these in the coming future, because I really want to make my adventure of Mindanao complete. Camiguin and Dinagat are both very safe and pose no risk in visiting.
Unfortunately, Sulu is not the same. It is an extremely dangerous place, a place that I have to be careful about visiting. I have to wait until the timing is right. But, I will do it. I have visited other places that carried stern warnings of safety too, though, like Basilan, Tawi Tawi and Lanao del Sur. I actually love visiting thos places because they are places that are relatively unvisited by foreigners, and the culture there is very pure and unspoiled. I enjoy seeing that.
Soon, I plan to venture outside of Mindanao too, though. I want to eventually visit every Province in the entire country. I have plans to start a new Travel website soon. If I do that, it means that I really must venture to other parts of the country! It’s something that I want to do anyway.
As I travel to new areas, or even areas that I have visited before, I will report on my travels here on this site (and maybe other sites too). Keep an eye here for future trip reports!
